Default Scope for a BSA Lightning XL...

    Recommendations please...

Want parallax correction. Medium magnification to plink and maybe a bit of HFT. Reasonable price as well, cos the money tree is dormant.

This gun is sweet but kicks like a donkey! I LOVE IT!

Trouble is, the GAMO scope I have does not have what it takes (I think it is broken) and I am getting frustrated - unable to improve consistent grouping better than 50mm C2C at 25m

    HELP!!!

hehe.. gad she got there in one piece.. I had an airking on her with a "modified" one piece mount. I suggest going that route and then letting the mount settle against the stop screw. And then make sure you have a consistant hold. More so than with the CF30 for instance due to the hig recoil. And maybe crony her so I can tell the previous owner what fps she ran at.

Don't put anything expensive on it... I had one of those rifles and killed a lot of scopes.
If it is the FAC version. It will kill Leapers, Nikko Stirling, BSA, etc.
Best option is to change the spring.

Didn't you put a venom kit or something in your rifle?

Nikko Stirling 3-12x42 Gold Crown (Airking) with one piece Hawke mounts.
I have this kit on my XL FAC and it is sweet, probably the largest scope you can fit with this compact rifle. The scope has a limited lifetime warranty so if it does break you simply have it replaced for free. I haven't had a problem with mine and it has been on my rifle for 2 years, seen about 3000 pellets so far.

I agree, it must be the airking - should cost around R1500 for the scope.

I have a Nikko Stirling Airking 2-7 x 32 on my XL FAC. 2 years no problem. I only had to change the mount to a Hawk 4 stud one piece mount as the std 3stud that the Nikko Stirling came with moved under recoil. What ever you do, DONT fit a NIGHTEATER. My "mule" as you call it broke one in 20 shots.

    Shadow....

How is the consistency on your FAC version?
I can't seem to achieve it.

I have just put a Nikko Stirling Gold Crown Airking 4-12 x 42 on, and am struggling.

It just shoots to the right. I was getting better results with the GAMO.

I have leveled it, reversed the mount, EVERYTHING. I can't see why the recoil would scatter the shots this much????
