This widens things up a bit, cause "ultimate" in this category could mean quite a lot of different things...

Is money an object/ what budget area you looking at? To what range to do want to plink to? Is it for adult or laaitie? 6, 12fpe or HP? Custom stock? Single or multishot?

Multishot or single? What Budget you looking at (asking, coz EV2's make great plinkers too Less than 20,15,10-,8-,6-,5K?)? Shot count a factor?

Also, do foresee if the gun will be used for club shooting in the future?

Used HW100 or S410. Both are multi shot and if you want to you can use it for Ft later.

Talon's a good choice. You can really muck about with it and calibre conversion/barrel swapping is simple too.

This is a bottle-gun so it would be best to try one out before buying it as the bottle-stock concept is a love-it-or-hate-it thing. Same applies to the multishot Logun S16S bottle-stock gun.

IF you're staying traditional, what about another S400/410? Maybe S4x0K or S200?

Or keep your current FT S400 rig ( if you still have it) as the plinker and upgrade your FT setup to EV2/Steyr/Dommie
