    Default The Battery Penetration Test

These batteries were shot from left to right
    S410 fac .20 converson EJ .20
    TX200 MK3 .177 Bisley Magnum(maybe to heavy)
    HW97K .20 V-MACH kit H&N field & target .20

You can see the fac makes a small hole going in but a big one comming out. The TX200 did not come out the back. The HW97K went right through which was impressive.Shot from 20m.

    Man, what I wouldn't give for a .20 HW97K.

People tend to forget that light .20 ammo still performs very nicely under 20fpe and that the .20 HW97K generates 16-18fpe with less effort than .177 rifles.

NEVER!! Hands down the best and most successful ratting combo I've ever had, so no need to upgrade my dedicated NV setup.

I am curios about the same test at 50m.

I would not use either of the two .20's at 20m looking at the energy they push out. Anything behind your target will be damaged as well [area depending]. Not good at all to have over penetration in some places.

Have anyone of you ever tried to shoot through a battery lenghtwise? I've tried it today but the pellet failed to penetrate, made it 75% through though.
What is interresting is that the hole made by the pellet is much bigger in diameter than the pellet itself.

    Ettienne1,
Were they stopped at the back or were they just laying loose on a stand with nothing blocking it to move backwards with the pellet?

    Ha Ha!!

No distance was 15 metres. My zero distance is 20 meters but its spot on at 15 meters also.

It wat not lying loose also. I've sticked it on my backstop. My backstop is a piece of hardwood covered with Bostic Prestic. I pushed in the battery about 1 centimeter into the prestic to keep it steady..

You could move your zero to 25 and you would still be spot on.
