Default Springers and the 12lbs rule

Hilton told me this weekend that the Gamo CFX might be to powerfull for competitions.

So if I want a springer, what type rifle will work, and how powerfull must it be?

I don't get this... in that tread about the Mendoza, there was something about a kid who came 5th in a competion... how can that be? The Mendoza is even more powerfull than the Gamo.

At our club we shoot informal HFT (springers only). If you can handle the kick (read accuracy) you are welcome to use it. For FT your rifle has to be under 12 ft/lbs (about 800 fps with a 8.4g pellet) and that is the SA rule.

    Thanks for the reply.
So is there no 12 ft/lbs cap on HFT, or is this just because you are having an informal shoot?

Ok, what the Cape Town guys have to say?
