the HW40 is not a PCP but simply a single stroke pneumatic pistol.
A lot of the olympic 10M pistols in the 90s were of such design, in fact a friend of mine has an awesome Walther that he will sell at a good price...he paid over R5000 at City Guns for it...will probably take R2500...it is a world class match pistol.
let me know if anyone wants his details

Busy hunting around for a BSA 240 MAGNUM .177 air pistol.Apparently they are not manufactured any longer. This baby will boll a UK size squirrel @ 30feet flat.Design seems to have been copied by Gamo as their PT80 looks virtually identical except that the BSA has walnut grips.Bottom line:-one mother of a pistol.
The BSA240 Magnum has not been made for quite a few years. I have seen a second hand example at the Sportsman Gun Centre for ?80 although it is missing its rearsight.
I always found them to be a bit awkward to use, they never seemed to fit right for me.
Now the HW45, a much better pistol. I have had mine for 18 years and it is still giving me an average of 420fps (in .22 calibre) using 14.3 grain pellets with its original spring and washer. This pistol has accounted for a large number of rats and a couple of rabbits as well.
I would love a pistol to carry around on hunts, should the need arise to finish off some quarry that's not_quite_dead.
Thing is though I'm carrying so much k@k already:
Rifle, camo netting, pellet pouch, cell fone, 2-way radio with headset - plus trying to teach a dog retrieving.
A flapper heading into a dense patch of blackjacks would be stopped short.
But, alas, I guess picking blackjacks out during coffee breaks keeps me occupied. 8)
