    Default What Scope...

    Hi,

I'm in the market for a FT scope on my s400. My requirements are as follows:
    - At least 50mm objective
    - 30mm tube
    - at least up to 32X max zoom
    - mil dots
    - side parallax setting

Budget could stretch to R5k (with mounts) but want value for money. What would you suggest? what price and where is the best place to buy it? (in JHB).

    Thanks.

Are you planning to shoot at 32x?

i can only think of 2 scopes that meet ur requirements.......

    the big nikko/lynx
and the up and coming leapers 8-32X

few things to consider though............the big nikko/lynx's are FT ready, but they weigh in at around 1.1kg. for dia-in one might have to mod the turrets on the leapers, and i assume the mildots on the 8-32 will be set true @ 32X. imho that's way too far apart for FT.

Last I checked there were none in the country. The suppliers do not seem in any hurry to bring more in.

What options are available at a lower zoom. Say up to 24X?

I am very happy with my NS Platinum 6-24x56 (with the 30mm tube). I would suggest you get the one with the big wheel. (Again if NS SA bothers to import enough).

My vote also goes for the big Lynx. Just renember to get decent mounts with your scope. Even a Swarvovski will under perform with crappy mounts.

Why do I not find the big Lynx 10-50x60 on their web site? Is it some special order.

Sonic asked:are you realy going to need that much magnification?
Yest you will if you want to range find accurately. Bigger mag=more accuracy, you can shoot at wat ever mag you want to after that. I shoot on 10x, so does Hennie, but a lot of guys use higher mag,Dale said to me once; if he can find a scope with 80x mag he will use that, I suppose 100x will suite him even better(haha). Side winding is much more comfortable but not indispensable. If you can get it, do yourself a favour, you would't be sorry.

Gerrie, you shoot on 10x, but yet you have 2 scopes that go up to 50x??? Am I missing something here?
